Why Regular Verification of Meters Is Necessary

As emphasized by the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, adhering to the established verification timeline helps avoid additional costs and conflicts with service providers. If the meter is not verified on time, its readings may be deemed invalid, and charges may be made based on established norms, which are usually higher than actual consumption.

Who Pays for Verification and How It Is Conducted

According to current legislation, the costs of water meter verification are borne by the owners of apartments or residential buildings. The cost of the service depends on the scope of work, the region, and the type of device. Most often, the verification is organized either by the utility service provider or a specialized organization that has the appropriate license. The owner has the right to choose the company for the verification, but it is essential to check for the presence of the necessary permits.

“Adhering to these deadlines helps avoid…”

After the verification is conducted, the owner receives a corresponding act confirming the meter’s functionality. If the device fails the test, it will need to be replaced at the owner’s expense.
