Ukrzaliznytsia has modernized regional electric trains, equipping them for the first time with modern air conditioning systems. Two trains — ER9M-502 and ER9E-630 — refurbished at its own production facilities are already operating on routes, providing passengers with comfort even in hot weather.

Routes with updated electric trains
Currently, the upgraded electric trains are running on two popular routes: Rivne – Lviv – Rivne and Kyiv – Khmelnytskyi – Kyiv. For passengers traveling between Kyiv and Lviv, the railway company offers a new convenient route with a transfer in Khmelnytskyi. The scheme is as follows: first, train No. 857K travels from Kyiv to Khmelnytskyi, and after a two-hour break, passengers can transfer to train No. 825, which goes on the route Khmelnytskyi – Ternopil – Lviv. Tickets for these trains can already be purchased through the company’s official mobile application.

Fleet modernization: plans for 2026
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the company has modernized 52 electric trains. Currently, the update of another train with an air conditioning system is nearing completion, which will soon operate on routes in the Odesa region. Additionally, by the end of 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to modernize more than five similar trains, significantly increasing the level of comfort for passengers on regional routes.
It is worth noting that the company previously launched online ticket sales for suburban trains across the country, which has become an additional convenience for travelers.
