Significant changes have occurred in the Ukrainian energy sector: with the onset of clear and warm weather, the operation of solar power plants (SPPs) has intensified, contributing to an increase in generation volumes within the energy system. However, despite this, the need for economical resource usage remains relevant, as during evening peak hours of energy consumption, the sun no longer shines, and this must be compensated by other types of generation.

The institution noted that Ukrainians should try to use high-power electrical appliances during the period from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Although the active operation of solar power plants during the day creates a surplus of power in the energy system, their productivity must be limited, as this surplus is “difficult to overcome through exports,” given that neighboring countries also have SPP capacities that may exceed those of Ukraine.
Furthermore, it is noted that solar generation cannot ensure the balancing of the energy system or rely on a certain percentage of coverage for consumption in the future, as this depends on “unpredictable long-term weather factors.”
Energy experts emphasized: “Currently, the difference between cloudy and sunny days is equivalent to the capacity of several energy blocks of large thermal power plants. In such conditions, it is very important to adhere to recommendations for shifting energy consumption to daytime hours on sunny days.”
