Which Products Have Increased the Most in Price
According to Arina, the cost of many basic products is now at a record high. Among the examples she provided:
- Cucumbers — nearly 300 UAH per kilogram
- Cherry tomatoes — from 414 to nearly 500 UAH per kilogram
- Garlic — 154 UAH per kilogram
- Zucchini — 199 UAH per kilogram
- Peppers — 299 UAH per kilogram
- Lemon — about 20 UAH each
- Orange juice — 154 UAH
- Mackerel — 260 UAH per kilogram
- Sunflower oil — about 100 UAH
- Eggs — 90 UAH per dozen
- Cream cheese — 109 UAH
- Mineral water — nearly 30 UAH
The girl emotionally commented on the prices of tomatoes and eggs, noting that at such prices, vegetables should be grown without chemicals, and chickens should lay “golden eggs.”
“I haven’t been in Ukraine for half a year, and I’m a bit surprised by the prices of groceries.”

Discussion Among Ukrainians
Under Arina’s post on social media, a lively discussion unfolded. Some Ukrainians claim that prices in Ukraine even exceed those in Europe, citing examples of cheaper vegetables in EU countries. Others emphasize the difficult conditions of wartime, stressing that it is important to appreciate the ability to buy groceries during the war.
- “Prices are not European; it’s cheaper in Europe”
- “People, we are at war, wake up! Be thankful that we can buy something at all and live more or less normally”
- “What did you expect from out-of-season products? 20 UAH/kg?”
- “It’s cheaper in Europe, 2.80€ for tomatoes, small cherries for 0.99€. It’s just shocking, not a country”
- “This is crazy… Even for Spain, this is expensive”
