Challenges for Port Infrastructure
Port workers, logisticians, sailors, dispatchers, engineers, and repair teams ensure stable operations daily, despite challenging conditions, including regular shelling from Russia. The Deputy Prime Minister for the Recovery of Ukraine – Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba emphasized the heroism and professionalism of port workers:
“Port workers, logisticians, sailors, dispatchers, engineers, and repair teams work under shelling, restore damaged infrastructure, and ensure the movement of vessels,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister for the Recovery of Ukraine – Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba.
In April 2026 alone, over 500 drone attacks on logistics infrastructure were recorded. As a result, ports were effectively shelled almost every other day. Since February 24, 2022, 935 port infrastructure facilities have been damaged or partially destroyed, along with 191 civilian vessels, and 255 civilians have been affected.
The government, in collaboration with industry experts, continues to work on strengthening the protection of ports and ensuring the uninterrupted operation of logistics chains, which is critically important for further stable exports and the support of global food security.
