The company “Metinvest-SMC” has shipped 1,000 tons of rolled metal produced at “Zaporizhstal,” as well as axles manufactured at “Kametstal,” for the construction of 66 new passenger cars for “Ukrzaliznytsia.” Additionally, over 200 tons of structural sheet have been imported for the production of the car bogies. The supply of domestically produced metal products plays a crucial role in the modernization and renewal of the country’s railway fleet.

Partnership with Domestic Enterprises
The collaboration between “Metinvest-SMC” and major manufacturers, including the “Kryukiv Railway Car Building Works” (KVBZ), allows for a prompt response to the growing demand from “Ukrzaliznytsia” for new passenger cars. Thanks to this partnership, UZ is able to update its rolling stock and improve the quality of transportation.

Condition of Passenger Rolling Stock
According to “Ukrzaliznytsia,” due to the obsolescence of cars and destruction caused by enemy shelling, the number of available passenger cars has decreased by 189 units over the past year. Since the beginning of the year, only 39 new cars have been added to the company’s fleet. In July 2025, 2.7 million passengers were transported, and the average load per car increased by 14% compared to the same period last year.
