Ukrainian Foundry Industry Production Increased by 15% Due to Exports

The foundry industry in Ukraine, despite a number of serious challenges, has shown significant growth in production volumes during the first nine months of the current year. The production of foundry products reached approximately 350,000 tons, which is 15% more compared to the same period last year.

Key Growth Factor — Exports

The increase in production figures is largely driven by the active export of Ukrainian foundry products to European and other global markets. In some enterprises within the industry, production volumes have nearly doubled, indicating effective utilization of export opportunities.

“The increase in production volumes this year is primarily related to the export of foundry products to Europe and other countries.”

Industry Challenges and Prospects

At the same time, the foundry industry faces numerous challenges, including rising electricity costs, a shortage of skilled workers, and disruptions in energy supply, which have been particularly noticeable since autumn. Despite these difficulties, the production capacities of enterprises significantly exceed the current demand for metal products. Throughout the year, the loading of factories has fluctuated between 40% and 70%.

Industry enterprises are actively developing new types of products and expanding their areas of activity; however, the achieved volumes still do not correspond to the full production potential. According to forecasts, by the end of the year, the foundry industry may reach a mark of around 400,000 tons of produced goods, although initial estimates were for 480,000–500,000 tons.
