The First Drones Will Appear by Summer

The agreement was signed on April 27 in Kyiv by the Norwegian Ambassador to Ukraine Lars Ragnar Oalerud Hansen and the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhiy Boyev. This document paves the way for the start of production of modern Ukrainian drones at Norwegian manufacturing facilities.

The Norwegian Ministry of Defense emphasized that such cooperation will not only deepen the defense partnership with Ukraine but also contribute to the security of Norway itself. The Ukrainian manufacturer has already announced that the delivery of the first systems produced in Norway is expected by this summer.

“Supporting Ukraine’s defense is the most important thing we do for Norway’s security. This cooperation is beneficial for both countries. I am very pleased that we are quickly realizing the ambitions outlined in the (Norwegian – ed.) drone strategy presented last December, and that we are fulfilling the declaration signed by the Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky,” said Norway’s Minister of Defense Tore Sandvik.

Security and Prospects for Cooperation

According to the Norwegian Minister of Defense, the signing of agreements on the production of drones is “an important and concrete step towards deepening Norwegian-Ukrainian cooperation.” At the same time, for security reasons and to protect confidential information, the names of the participating companies and details of the manufacturing facilities are currently not disclosed.

The signing of this agreement continues the declaration on defense partnership, which was signed on April 14 in Oslo by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre. The new level of cooperation in defense technologies demonstrates the strategic partnership between the two countries in addressing modern challenges.
