Ukrainian Defense Forces Deny Russian Fake News About the Capture of Korchakivka in Sumy Region

The Ukrainian military command has categorically denied information disseminated by the Russian Federation regarding the alleged occupation of the village of Korchakivka in the Sumy region. Claims of the “capture” of the settlement and the defeat of Ukrainian units are not true.

Ukrainian Forces Hold the Defense in Sumy Region

The grouping of troops “Kursk” emphasized that there has been no advancement of enemy forces in the area of Korchakivka. Ukrainian defenders confidently hold their positions, preventing the enemy from breaking through in this direction.

“Today, the enemy spread another lie about the supposed capture of the village of Korchakivka in the Sumy region and the ‘defeat’ of our units. The grouping of troops ‘Kursk’ responsibly states: there is no advancement of the enemy in this area. The Ukrainian Defense Forces confidently hold the front”

Russian Fakes and Attempts at Information Pressure

The command believes that such statements from the Russian military are part of an information campaign and are related to the so-called “red date syndrome.” The Russian army likely desperately needs successes tied to festive dates, particularly May 1, so the occupiers invent victories in the information space without having real achievements on the battlefield.

It is noted that the desire to receive another award or cash bonus prompts Russian soldiers to report the acquisition of new territories, even without approaching them in real life.

Recently, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the grouping “Sever” allegedly “entered and established itself” in Korchakivka. At the same time, analysts from the DeepState project reported back in mid-April about the advancement of the Russian army to the east of Sumy, particularly in the areas of the villages of Myropilske, Mariyne, and Novodmytrivka, but there was no information about the capture of Korchakivka.
