The Russian occupation forces have begun a spring-summer offensive campaign, which, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, will last throughout the warm months. The active phase has already unfolded in certain areas of the front.

Features of the Offensive and the Role of Equipment

The head of the communication department of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Viktor Trehubov, emphasized that the Russians are currently using almost no armored vehicles due to their low effectiveness. Most of the offensive actions are carried out using motorized equipment, while additional protection of armored vehicles only increases the number of drones needed to hit them.

He also stressed that no significant escalation on the front should be expected. According to him, Russian troops are not currently accumulating resources; on the contrary, they are expending them during combat operations.

“The question is when they will run out, go for another replenishment, and then try to do something again in the summer. But as of now, they are in a phase of resource expenditure rather than accumulation,” Trehubov said.

Mass Use of Drones and Development of Robotics

According to the representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the contact line is currently saturated with drones of various types, and a significant number of ground robotic complexes (GRCs) are expected to appear soon. Trehubov noted that warm and dry weather promotes the active use of drones to strike Russian positions.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appealed to Western partners to expedite the supply of air defense systems and missiles in preparation for potential mass Russian shelling next winter.

Earlier, there were reports of a Russian offensive towards Sumy and the potential threat of encirclement of the city, as reported by military correspondent Yulia Kyriienko-Merinova. However, the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces denied the information regarding the existence of such a threat.

Additionally, reports have emerged in the information space about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s plans to create a so-called “buffer zone” in the territories of Sumy and other regions of Ukraine.
