Ukraine Strengthens Its Position as the Main Supplier of Corn to the EU

The Ukrainian corn market is showing increased activity amid stable demand from the European Union. The new harvest is estimated within a wide price range — from $197 to $203 per ton, with some traders already offering higher prices — $205-206. At the same time, last year’s corn is gradually losing liquidity as European consumers are focusing on fresh products.

Increased Demand from the EU

EU countries, including Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands, continue to actively purchase Ukrainian grain. Problems with yields in the European domestic market are forcing the bloc to increase import volumes: while earlier forecasts estimated supplies at 18–19 million tons, the current expectation is for imports in the range of 22–23 million tons. Ukraine is the main supplier of corn, having already sold about 4 million tons of the new harvest for delivery in November–December.

“The EU is facing serious yield problems, which is forcing the bloc to increase imports from the projected 18-19 million tons to 22-23 million tons, and Ukraine appears to be a key supplier here.”

Development of Sunflower Oil Exports

The company “Radema” from the Rivne region successfully exports over 80% of its produced sunflower oil to the European market. Two years ago, the plant was modernized with the launch of a new production line. By the end of 2025, the company plans to open another bottling workshop, which will allow it to double production volumes to 4,000 tons per month. “Radema” actively utilizes preferential loans from the state program for business development, and the enterprise employs about 100 staff members.
