Volume of Aid and Key Participants in the Initiative

According to U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Vitaker, in the past six months since the initiative’s launch, allied countries have already committed to purchasing American weapons for Ukraine totaling over $4.5 billion. These purchases are aimed at meeting the most urgent needs of the Ukrainian military on the front lines.

“In approximately six months since the launch of the initiative, allies have committed to purchasing American weapons worth over $4.5 billion to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs on the battlefield. We expect new announcements during the ministerial meeting,” the diplomat noted.

The ambassador also emphasized that currently, 21 NATO member countries and two partners have officially expressed their support for the initiative. Through PURL, allies are taking on financial responsibility for the long-term support of Ukraine in the security sector, which strengthens Europe’s position in the region.

Leaders in Procurement and the Strategic Importance of PURL

Among the countries most actively purchasing American weapons for Ukraine through PURL, Vitaker highlighted Germany, the Netherlands, and Norway. The diplomat stressed that the initiative not only enhances Ukraine’s defense capabilities but also helps to create additional pressure on the Russian Federation to engage Moscow in peace negotiations.
