Ukraine intends to inject no less than 4.6 billion cubic meters of imported natural gas into its gas storage facilities by the end of the current year. This decision is driven by the serious consequences of Russian missile strikes on gas extraction facilities, which have forced the country to seek additional sources of fuel supply.

Increase in Gas Import Volumes
Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko emphasized during a parliamentary meeting that the situation with gas reserves in underground storage remains challenging. According to him, the volume of gas imports this year will significantly exceed the figures of previous years, as national production has been severely affected by Russian aggression.
“The situation with the storage facilities is very complicated, indeed complicated… Undoubtedly, this year we will import much more gas,” said the head of the energy ministry
Contracts and Consumer Supply
The head of the Ministry of Energy also highlighted that contracts for the supply of nearly 3 billion cubic meters of gas have already been signed, which have financial backing. Herman Halushchenko assured that there is no expectation of a gas shortage and that Ukrainians will be provided with fuel in the necessary volumes. Additionally, if needed, gas can be used for additional electricity generation.
The minister expressed confidence that all consumers, including energy companies, will receive the necessary amount of resources for a stable heating season.
