Ukraine Increasingly Finds Russian and Belarusian Electronics in Russian Missile Debris

Ukrainian specialists are increasingly discovering Russian and Belarusian electronic components in the debris of missiles launched by the Russian Federation over Ukrainian territory. This was reported by Vladislav Vasyuk, the President of Ukraine’s Commissioner for Sanctions Policy.

Replacement of Western Components with Russian and Belarusian Ones

According to Vasyuk, Russia is gradually abandoning smuggled Western parts that it previously used in missile production. Now, in the remnants of missiles, particularly the “Iskander” model, Russian and Belarusian printed circuit boards and computer chips are being found more frequently. This trend has been observed since the full-scale invasion by Russia, when the aggressor country began actively using these missiles against Ukraine.

Quality of Electronics and Western Response

“In the 2025 ‘Iskander’ missile, compared to the 2022 ‘Iskander’, there are fewer European and American (components), and more Russian and Belarusian ones,” noted Vasyuk.

He emphasized that although the quality of the new Russian and Belarusian chips lags behind their Western counterparts, this has not yet affected the effectiveness of the missiles themselves. At the same time, the official warned that the level of these technologies could improve over time.

In the context of international pressure, Western countries are trying to limit Russia’s access to modern foreign electronic components and microchips used in military technology. Previously, Kyiv has repeatedly found Western electronics in Russian missiles and urged manufacturers to strengthen control over the export of their products.
