New LNG Import Route to Ukraine
Thanks to cooperation with Lithuania, Ukraine will import liquefied gas from the USA for the first time through the terminal in Klaipeda at the beginning of 2026. This event became possible during the visit of the Ukrainian government delegation led by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko to Lithuania, during which key agreements on energy cooperation were finalized.
According to Koretskyi, work is currently underway with partners to ensure that this direction becomes an important component of gas supply diversification and strengthening Ukraine’s energy resilience. He emphasized that Lithuania’s support is particularly significant for our country, as it allows for the expansion of energy resource import sources and reduces dependence on traditional routes.
“Today, together with our partners, we are working to make this direction an important element of diversifying gas supply sources and enhancing the energy security of our state,” noted Koretskyi.
Deepening Cooperation and Lithuania’s Support
Special thanks were expressed to the Minister of Energy of Lithuania, Žygimantas Vaičiūnas, for his active role in achieving agreements and advocating for support for Ukraine at the European level. During negotiations with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, Ingrida Šimonytė, the parties discussed the possibilities for Ukraine to further utilize the free capacities of its gas transportation infrastructure for the needs of the European Union.
As part of the official visit, the Ukrainian delegation also met with the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, during which issues of energy security and strengthening bilateral partnership were raised. A substantive discussion also took place with representatives of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania regarding further support for Ukraine.
Koretskyi emphasized the importance of Lithuanian assistance, noting that Lithuania is one of the world leaders in terms of support for our country relative to GDP.
In addition, Ukraine and Lithuania are launching a joint initiative, Brave Lithuania, aimed at supporting defense innovations.
