U.S. President Donald Trump, during a conversation with journalists, expressed his belief that the U.S. should not have intervened in the situation surrounding Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine is far across the ocean, and American involvement is unnecessary.

Trump on financial aid to Ukraine and Biden’s position
Donald Trump noted that Washington has already provided sufficient financial support to Ukraine without receiving anything in return. He emphasized that the United States has allocated significant funds for aid to Ukraine and has also spent large resources on ammunition.
“We are spending billions. You know, we didn’t need to get involved in Ukraine. Ukraine is thousands of miles away, across the ocean. We helped them,” the U.S. president stressed.
During the discussion, Trump again criticized his predecessor Joe Biden. He claims that during Biden’s tenure, the U.S. provided Ukraine with $350 billion, yet received no benefits in return. According to Trump, due to the actions of the current leadership, American defense production is forced to operate at full capacity to replenish ammunition supplies.
Changing the approach to aid for Ukraine and the international context
Trump emphasized that during his presidency, the U.S. provided ammunition to Ukraine on a commercial basis, and European allies paid for it. He highlighted the differences between the policies of his administration and Biden’s actions.
Prior to this statement, Western media reported on the possible cessation of arms supplies to Ukraine in the event of escalating military tensions with Iran. In particular, it was noted that Trump might use such a move as an ultimatum to garner support from allies within the “Epic Fury” operation aimed at regaining control over the Strait of Hormuz.
Additionally, on April 1, reports emerged that Iran had attacked a U.S. military base in Saudi Arabia following Trump’s refusal to provide additional assistance to Kyiv.
