Trump Initiates 100% Tariffs on Foreign Films to Protect the U.S. Film Industry

President of the United States Donald Trump has expressed concern about the current state of the American film industry, claiming it is on the brink of crisis. In this regard, he has instructed the implementation of 100% tariffs on all films produced outside the country.

Trump noted that foreign nations are allegedly coordinating efforts to lure American filmmakers, which raises his concerns for the future of Hollywood. The “rapid demise” of the American film industry, he stated, is caused by offers of “various incentives” from other countries.

“Hollywood and many other regions of the U.S. are facing devastation. This is a coordinated effort by other countries and, therefore, a threat to national security. This, among other things, is also about messaging and propaganda,” Trump declared.

The President emphasized that he has instructed the Department of Commerce and the U.S. Trade Representative to urgently begin the process of implementing these tariffs. “We want movies to be made in America again!” he added.

Previously, Trump also indicated that the U.S. does not plan to suspend existing tariffs but aims to establish “fair agreements” with all countries involved in negotiations.
