Books Will Become a New Option for Assistance

The Minister of Social Policy, Family, and Unity, Denys Uliutin, announced that soon, funds from the program will be available not only for purchasing school supplies but also for books. According to the official, the relevant changes are expected to be implemented within three weeks.

“We are currently working on allowing the assistance to also be used for books and expect to implement this within the next three weeks,” he said.

High Demand and Funding

According to the minister, citizens are actively submitting applications online, particularly through the ‘Diia’ app. As of September 2, over 122,000 applications have been processed through this service. In the first phase of funding, support has already been provided to 86,000 families amounting to 430 million hryvnias, which represents 35% of the total budget of the program. An additional 18,000 families will receive payments in the near future.

At the same time, more than 3,000 rejections have been recorded due to applicants not meeting the program’s criteria. The most common reasons were incorrect data in the system or a change in the child’s educational institution. The minister assures that parents have the opportunity to reapply after correcting their information.

Uliutin explained that after making changes to personal information, it is advisable to wait two days before submitting a new application. This will allow the system to update the data and avoid repeated rejections.
