The Ministry of Internal Affairs Urges Not to Trust Unverified Reports
Oleksiy Biloshytskyi, the First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department, emphasized that no new changes regarding fines for traffic violations have been adopted at this time. Ukrainians are urged to trust only official sources of information and not to spread rumors.
“Currently, no such changes have been adopted,” the statement reads.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs stressed that if any changes to legislation regarding administrative responsibility for traffic violations or public order are implemented, this will be communicated exclusively through the official resources of the Ministry.
What Fake News is Being Spread Online
Anonymous sources claimed that starting from July 1, 2025, the following new fines would supposedly be introduced:
- speeding over 20 km/h — 1020 UAH instead of 340 UAH;
- speeding over 50 km/h — 1700 UAH;
- for three such violations within a year — a 6-month suspension of driving rights;
- parking in prohibited areas — 850 UAH instead of 255 UAH;
- vehicle towing — an additional 1200–1500 UAH;
- driving without a seatbelt — 1530 UAH instead of 510 UAH; if a child is not buckled in — a separate fine of 1700 UAH;
- talking on the phone while driving — 1190 UAH instead of 510 UAH.
At the same time, lawmakers are considering a bill to abolish the so-called “indulgence” for speeding less than 20 km/h. The initiators of the document propose to establish penalties commensurate with the degree of danger of the offense. According to the authors, international studies confirm that speeds between 30 and 70 km/h significantly affect the likelihood and consequences of traffic accidents, especially in populated areas where vulnerable road users — pedestrians and cyclists — are present.
Additionally, this year, a system for automatic recording of violations for running a red light will come into effect in Ukraine. This function will be enabled in already installed traffic violation detection cameras.
