Experts suggest that in the spring-summer of this year, the Russian army may plan a new large-scale offensive with possible objectives in the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration or in the Orikhiv-Zaporizhzhia direction. Observers note that due to a lack of resources and increasing economic problems in Russia, such an offensive could be the last major attempt to change the situation on the front.
At the end of winter, the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted counteroffensive actions at the junction of Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. As a result, they managed to push the Russian aggressor away from Pokrovsk and further – from Orikhiv in the east. According to reports from open sources, the offensive actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in these areas are ongoing.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported on February 23 that in the Oleksandrivka direction, since the end of January this year, the forces of the Air Assault Troops and related units have regained control over 400 square kilometers of territory and eight populated areas.
