The Cost of Apartment Renovations in Ukraine Has Increased: Prices, Reasons, and Trends

Shortage of Skilled Workers and High Demand

One of the key factors driving up renovation costs is the shortage of qualified specialists. Due to the mobilization of many builders, the market lacks experienced workers, while the demand for quality renovations continues to grow. Entrepreneurs note that the market is currently open to young people and retirees who are willing to work. Due to high demand, workers can set their own prices, and even under these conditions, they have orders scheduled for several months in advance.

“Many builders have been mobilized. Now is the best time for young people and retirees who can still work. We set our own prices – there will always be clients willing to pay. We have bookings for several months ahead,” he said.

Renovation Prices in New Buildings and Old Apartments

A complete renovation in a new building, covering both materials and labor, costs from $800 per square meter. In comparison, this figure was around $600 in 2021. The cost of updating old apartments without furniture, but with new utilities and finishes, now ranges from $300 to $400 per square meter.

Given the rising costs of work and the shortage of craftsmen, developers are increasingly offering buyers apartments with ready-made renovations. However, this practice does not always satisfy clients. Buyers complain about the use of cheap materials, low quality of work, and a formal approach to carrying out renovations.
