SWEAT recovers after the attack: user funds returned, contract updated

The SWEAT project has fully resumed operations after a hacker attack on the smart contract of the eponymous token. The team stated that all user balances have been restored and the platform’s functionality has been stabilized.

This is reported by Finway

“The SWEAT team is pleased to confirm that all external accounts have been fully restored, and operations have returned to normal.”

After the incident, the SWEAT developers emphasized that user funds remained secure, and the quick response was made possible through partnership collaboration and community support. Special mention was made of the participation of the MEXC exchange, which promptly froze the hacker’s account, as well as the Rhea Finance platform, which temporarily halted trading of the token.

How the attack occurred and the team’s response

According to official information, the hacker found a vulnerability in the SWEAT token’s smart contract and exploited it to withdraw assets from top-100 accounts. A separate malicious contract was created for this purpose, and the acquired tokens were attempted to be withdrawn through the centralized exchange MEXC and the DeFi platform Rhea Finance.

In response, SWEAT took the following steps to minimize the consequences:

  • paused the operation of the defective smart contract;
  • froze the hacker’s account on the MEXC platform;
  • halted trading of the token on Rhea Finance;
  • deployed an updated version of the contract with fixes;
  • returned all funds to users.

Scale of the incident and further actions

The SWEAT team plans to hand over the collected materials of the incident to law enforcement agencies and work with MEXC to recover the frozen assets. Additionally, a thorough analysis of the event will be conducted, and a detailed report will be prepared for the community.

According to Blockaid experts, the hacker gained control over approximately 17.71 billion SWEAT tokens — roughly $3.46 million at the time of the attack.

It is worth noting that since the launch, the SWEAT token has been gradually depreciating. By the end of April 2026, its price is $0.00019.
