New Acquisition and Updated Portfolio Metrics
Strategy, which remains the largest public holder of bitcoin, announced the purchase of 3273 BTC for approximately $255 million between April 20 and April 26, 2026. This transaction was recorded in a report submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Form 8-K.
The average purchase price of one bitcoin was $77,906, raising the average value of the company’s entire portfolio to $75,537 per coin. Following this transaction, the total number of bitcoins on Strategy’s balance sheet reached 818,334 BTC, acquired for approximately $61.8 billion. The current market value of these assets is about $63.6 billion.
Financing the Purchase and Accumulation Strategy
This time, the company financed the acquisition through the sale of 1.45 million Class A common shares (MSTR), which raised $255 million. Unlike previous large-scale transactions, no perpetual preferred securities STRC were used during this purchase.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of 2026, Strategy has already acquired over 144,000 BTC, averaging about 36,000 BTC per month. From April 13 to April 19, the company made one of the largest purchases in its history, acquiring 34,164 BTC, partially utilizing STRC instruments; however, this mechanism was not applied this time.
“After this transaction, the total asset volume of Strategy reached 818,334 BTC, acquired for approximately $61.8 billion. Current estimates suggest their market value is around $63.6 billion.”
Co-founder Michael Saylor had previously hinted at the new acquisition by releasing a chart of historical purchases. In terms of bitcoin volume, Strategy even surpasses the financial giant BlackRock, which manages about 812,300 BTC through its funds. However, the total reserves of crypto fund issuers are estimated to reach 1.32 million BTC.
Investor Adam Livingston believes that Strategy could increase its holdings to 1.2 million BTC by the end of 2026, meaning it could acquire over 380,000 more coins. Supporters of the accumulation strategy anticipate further growth in the company’s positions in the bitcoin market.
Previously, economist Peter Schiff criticized Strategy’s yield model against the backdrop of STRC issuance, which has also become a topic of discussion among market participants.
