Solana Mobile Begins Shipping Seeker Smartphone with Cryptocurrency Wallet in 50 Countries

Solana Mobile has announced the start of shipments for its second-generation smartphone called Seeker in over 50 countries worldwide. According to the company, the number of pre-orders for the new device has exceeded 150,000, significantly surpassing the results of the first model, Saga.

Key Features of Solana Seeker

Seeker integrates a built-in cryptocurrency wallet and its own decentralized application (dApp) store, allowing users to bypass the restrictions of traditional platforms like Google Play and the App Store. One of the main advantages of the device is the Seed Vault feature, which ensures isolated storage of private keys and seed phrases, separating them from the application layer while maintaining secure interaction.

Focus on Security and Innovation

CEO Emmett Hollyer emphasized that Seeker is built on the TEEPIN architecture—a multi-layered system that decentralizes access to the device and software distribution. TEEPIN uses cryptographic attestation to verify the legitimacy of installed applications, enhancing security for users.

Developers are targeting the smartphone at both developers and crypto enthusiasts. Seeker opens access to an alternative app marketplace with lower fees and significantly simplifies interaction with DeFi services, NFTs, and Web3 games. The price of the device depends on the configuration and is set at $450 or $500.

In comparison, the previous model, Saga, was sold in a batch of about 20,000 devices, and its sales were initially halted due to low demand, which later increased due to the popularity of meme coin airdrops.

It is also worth noting that last year, the company Metavisio introduced Web3 laptops with an integrated cryptocurrency wallet and access to airdrops, indicating a growing interest in devices with deep Web3 integration.
