The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has reached an agreement to extend the supply of Russian natural gas to his country for another three months—until March 31, 2025. This move is intended to ensure a stable energy supply during the winter period.

Serbia’s Plans for Energy Contracts
According to Vučić, the existing contract with Russia for gas supply has already been extended until the end of 2025. At the same time, Belgrade is considering the possibility of signing a new long-term agreement to guarantee the stability of the country’s energy supply in the future. Serbia receives Russian gas through the “Turkish Stream” pipeline, which allows for the diversification of import routes and avoids the risks of supply disruptions.
Discussions on NIS and Cooperation with Hungary
In addition to gas supply issues, Vučić reported on negotiations between representatives of the Russian company Gazprom and the Hungarian energy corporation MOL regarding the sale of a stake in Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS), which is under U.S. sanctions. According to the Serbian president, the Serbian authorities have no objections to such an agreement.
“The Hungarians are our friends. We just need to finish as soon as possible, by January 15,” added the President of Serbia.
Thus, Serbia aims not only to ensure the stability of energy supply for the winter period but also to expand cooperation with European partners in the energy sector.
