Sam Bankman-Fried Transferred to Dangerous Prison in California

Former CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), has been transferred to one of the most dangerous prisons in California, located near the city of Victorville. This prison is known for its harsh atmosphere and high levels of violence.

Prison Conditions and Security

The prison where Bankman-Fried has been placed has a reputation for being particularly tough. Prison system expert Christopher Zoukis noted that medium-security correctional facilities, where long-term inmates are typically housed, have a lower quality of life and higher levels of violence compared to low-security institutions. He also added that prisons on the West Coast tend to be much harsher.

“There are significantly more gangs and prison politics there than on the East Coast or in the Mid-Atlantic region,” the expert stated.

Social Structure and Risks

According to Zoukis’s website, the prison is characterized by brutal conditions, racial segregation, and high levels of violence. Inmates are forced to join racially-based groups known as cars for their own safety. Vulnerable groups in this facility are constantly at risk, and frequent fights and aggressive staff behavior make this prison one of the most dangerous in the BOP correctional system.

It is worth noting that Sam Bankman-Fried was previously transferred from a federal prison in New York. Additionally, in March 2025, Tucker Carlson interviewed him.
