Some employees of the National Joint Stock Company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” receive daily payments ranging from 40 to 49 thousand hryvnias, and this is not limited to the company’s executives.

Court Rulings on Compensation for Former Top Managers
The Podil District Court of Kyiv ordered “Naftogaz” to pay over 5 million hryvnias to Maryna Kvashnina, who previously held the position of Director of Information Technology. She was dismissed in 2022, but a year later, in October 2023, the court ruled that her dismissal was illegal and awarded her compensation of 16.3 million hryvnias for forced absenteeism. Her reinstatement only occurred in April 2024, so Kvashnina additionally demanded another 5 million hryvnias for further forced absenteeism.
“To recover from the Joint Stock Company ‘National Joint Stock Company ‘Naftogaz of Ukraine’ 5,095,871 (five million ninety-five thousand eight hundred seventy-one) hryvnias and 25 kopecks of average salary for the period of forced absenteeism from 28.10.2023 to 19.04.2024,” the court’s decision states.
According to the case materials, Kvashnina’s average daily salary was 40,766.97 hryvnias, which is approximately equivalent to one thousand dollars per day of work.
Other High Incomes of “Naftogaz” Employees
An even larger sum – about 14 million hryvnias – is being claimed in court by former head of the Budget Calculations and Tax Planning Department Yuriy Kolbushkin. He has retired and believes he is entitled to severance pay and compensation for its delay. His case is currently under consideration in the Supreme Court. As noted in the relevant materials, Kolbushkin’s average daily salary was 49,038.32 hryvnias.
The level of salaries at “Naftogaz” depends on many factors. For example, the Director of Ethics and Compliance Yevhen Kalinin received 2.3 million hryvnias (approximately 317.6 thousand hryvnias per month) over seven and a half months in 2025, before his dismissal. Board member Vasyl Volodin declared over 4 million hryvnias for six and a half months (623.6 thousand hryvnias per month) before his dismissal. The former head of “Naftogaz” Oleksiy Chernyshov had an average monthly salary of about 2 million hryvnias in 2024.
