Russian Army Attacks Bohodukhiv Again: A Child Among the Injured

On the evening of May 24, Russian troops again launched an attack on the city of Bohodukhiv in the Kharkiv region using a drone. This was reported by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synegubov. According to him, as a result of the shelling, three people experienced acute stress reactions, including a five-year-old girl.

Medical personnel are providing assistance to all the injured. It is known that on the morning of the same day, Bohodukhiv had already suffered a Russian drone attack: at that time, 12 people were reported injured, but later the Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office clarified their number to 13 individuals.

Systematic Attacks on Civil Infrastructure

Russian military forces repeatedly shell Ukrainian cities and civil infrastructure objects using various types of weapons — strike drones, missiles, aerial bombs, and multiple launch rocket systems. Such actions lead to the destruction of vital systems, including electricity, water, heating, and also limit access to medical assistance and communication.

Signs of Genocidal Actions and International Qualification

The Ukrainian authorities and international human rights organizations classify such shelling as war crimes of the Russian Federation. The destruction of population support systems, attacks on healthcare facilities, and other intentional actions aimed at harming the civilian population are regarded as signs of genocidal actions.

According to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1948, genocide includes acts intended to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group. These include killings, causing serious bodily or mental harm, creating living conditions intended to destroy, forcibly transferring children, and other similar crimes.

The leadership of Russia publicly denies the targeting of strikes on civilian objects; however, evidence indicates the systematic nature of attacks on cities, villages, hospitals, schools, and the energy and water infrastructure of Ukraine.
