Romania has completed the construction of a new 260-meter bridge over the Tisza River, connecting the country with Ukraine. Thanks to this infrastructure project, the opening of a new border crossing “Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmației” at the Ukrainian-Romanian border is planned in the near future.

Technical Presentation and Infrastructure Overview
The presentation of the new bridge was attended by the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Roman Sarai, the head of the regional military administration Myroslav Biletskyi, the first deputy head of the regional council Andrii Sheketa, deputy Vasyl Demyanchuk, as well as representatives of the Ukrainian and Romanian delegations. They thoroughly inspected the border crossing “Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmației” and familiarized themselves with the infrastructure capabilities.
“The modern 260-meter structure has connected two countries,” noted the regional council.
Improving Transport Logistics and Regional Development
The Romanian side has already presented the new customs and border infrastructure and access roads. Meanwhile, on the Ukrainian side, the construction of the roadway and the establishment of the necessary service area for the proper functioning of the border crossing are actively ongoing.
The opening of the new bridge will reduce the load on the existing crossing “Solotvyno – Sighetu Marmației”, which currently has weight restrictions for vehicles (up to 3.5 tons). The new crossing will facilitate the movement of both freight and passenger transport, contribute to the development of logistics, and create new jobs in the Solotvyn community and surrounding villages.
In the long term, the new border crossing will promote the revitalization of the service sector, the emergence of logistics centers, and the development of the hotel business in the region.
