Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine to Create a Strategic Triangle for the Reconstruction of Ukraine

In Bucharest, at a forum dedicated to the reconstruction of Ukraine, representatives from Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine announced their intention to deepen regional cooperation in infrastructure through the establishment of a “strategic connectivity triangle.” The goal of this partnership is to support the reconstruction of Ukraine and enhance the resilience of the entire region.

Development of Transport Infrastructure and Involvement of the Private Sector

The proposed “triangle” is based on the port infrastructure of the Black Sea and the Danube, as well as existing railway and road corridors. These routes are a focus for the European Commission, which considers them key to expanding the region’s transport capabilities.

During discussions, officials from the three countries emphasized the strategic role of developing logistics pathways. They not only ensure economic and demographic mobility but are also critical for military needs in times of war.

“The reconstruction of Ukraine is impossible without the active participation of private businesses and the involvement of international companies in joint projects.”

Forum participants also stressed that attracting private capital requires effective financing, insurance, and risk mitigation mechanisms.

The Role of Romania in Reconstruction Logistics

Romanian delegates expressed the country’s readiness to become one of the key players in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. According to the head of the Romanian Senate, Mircea Abrudean, Romania’s strategic location, particularly through the port of Constanta, the Danube ports, and the development of railway and road infrastructure, positions the country to serve as a central logistics hub for transporting goods necessary for infrastructure, energy, and industrial projects in Ukraine.
