Restoration of the Darnytsia Heat and Power Plant in Kyiv Will Last at Least Two Months

The Darnytsia Heat and Power Plant in Kyiv sustained significant damage on February 3 and requires at least two months to restore the operation of systems and equipment, provided there are no new attacks from the enemy.

Consequences of the Incident for Residents

According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, specialists have already assessed the extent of the destruction and determined the estimated repair timeline. The Darnytsia HPP provided heating to a significant portion of residential buildings in the Darnytsia and Dnipro districts of the capital. In particular, over 1,100 apartment buildings were left without heating after the incident.

“This HPP provided heating to, among others, some buildings in the Darnytsia and Dnipro districts — affecting over 1,100 apartment buildings. In these buildings, on the morning of February 3, water was drained from the heating systems to prevent freezing,” Klitschko noted.

The local authorities have published a list of buildings that were left without heat due to the damage to the HPP. This list can be found on the official resources of the city authorities and district administrations.

Heating Points for Residents

In response to the critical situation, the city has deployed additional support heating points in educational institutions located in neighborhoods where residents have been left without centralized heating. Currently, there are five such points operating in the Darnytsia district and four in the Dnipro district. All of them are connected to mobile boiler houses and are available to citizens around the clock. This complements the existing network of heating points in these areas.

The State Emergency Service has also actively participated in the deployment of assistance points: 36 additional heating points will operate in Darnytsia and another 27 in the Dnipro district. The addresses of all available points can be found on the official websites of the district administrations, city authorities, and the State Emergency Service.
