Operation to Eliminate the Danger

Specialists from the State Emergency Service used special equipment to extract the remains of the missile from the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building. The most challenging situation was in the apartment on the first floor, where the warhead of the missile was located. The operation involved local fire and rescue units, which helped avoid an explosion and prevent a potential tragedy.

“Thanks to the professional, coordinated, and precisely executed actions of the rescuers, it was possible to safely carry out the work and prevent a tragedy.”

Experts note that if the missile had exploded inside the apartment building, a large-scale catastrophe with numerous destructions and likely human casualties could have occurred.

Consequences of the Massive Attack on Kyiv and the Region

Meanwhile, rescue operations are ongoing at the site of the collapse of part of a nine-story building in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, where a missile also struck. At this time, the bodies of five deceased individuals have been found under the rubble, including a 12-year-old girl, and about 20 people are considered missing. Approximately 40 residents have been injured.

According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the strikes caused significant destruction in several areas of Kyiv region: Obukhiv, Brovary, Fastiv, Boryspil, and Bila Tserkva.
