Repairs of Power Lines at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant Have Begun After Ceasefire

Work is ongoing at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to restore damaged power lines that were affected by hostilities, leaving the plant without external power supply for four weeks. This was reported by Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Restoration of Power Supply at ZNPP

According to IAEA information, the repair work became possible after local ceasefire zones were established around infrastructure facilities. This step allowed specialists to begin restoring critically important power lines that supply the plant and support its safe operation.

“After a four-week downtime, work has begun to restore the damaged power lines leading to the Zaporizhzhia NPP, following the establishment of local ceasefire zones to continue the work,” Grossi stated.

Cooperation and Safety at the Plant

The IAEA Director General noted that representatives from both sides of the conflict have constructively cooperated with international observers to ensure the implementation of a comprehensive repair plan. Such interaction is crucial for maintaining nuclear safety at a facility that remains in a high-risk zone due to military actions.

The IAEA emphasizes that restoring external power supply is critically important for the stable and safe operation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, as well as for preventing potential radiation risks to the surrounding region.
