The evaluation of brands is based on a comprehensive analysis of new models available in the American market. Experts considered the results of road tests, safety checks, as well as survey data on reliability and owner satisfaction levels.

According to Consumer Reports, the top ten brands include the following car manufacturers (in ascending order):

- Toyota

- Acura
- Tesla
In contrast, the list of the worst brands includes:
- Volkswagen
- Mercedes-Benz
- Chevrolet
- Chrysler
- Rivian
- Alfa Romeo
- Dodge
- GMC
- Land Rover
- Jeep
“Consumer Reports notes that only those manufacturers with at least two current models tested are included in the brand rankings. This is why Fiat, Infiniti, Jaguar, Lucid, Maserati, Polestar, and Ram are absent from the list.”
