Current State of the Apple Market

The harvest of early apple varieties by Ukrainian gardeners began at the same time as last year. According to agricultural market analysts, the purchase prices currently range from 60–70 UAH/kg ($1.43–$1.67 per kilogram). This is due to both increased demand and the predominance of imported products in the market.

“As of today, the purchase prices for new harvest apples are forming within the range of 60-70 UAH/kg ($1.43-1.67/kg), which is on average 2.9 times more expensive than at the beginning of last season.”

Impact of Imports and Expectations for Price Changes

After the arrival of domestic apples in the market, sales of imported fruits have decreased. However, traders are not yet rushing to lower prices for Ukrainian products, explaining that the majority of the supply still consists of imported apples. Demand for apples remains low, as consumers often choose seasonal fruits and berries.

Producers plan to more actively enter the market next week, which they believe will lead to a gradual decrease in prices. Experts predict that the price reduction will affect not only Ukrainian apples but also imported ones, as the increase in supply will contribute to the formation of a negative price trend.
