In Ukraine, the purchasing prices for sunflower continue to rise, driven by increased demand for sunflower oil and a growing supply of raw materials in the domestic market.

Price Dynamics for Sunflower and Oil
Over the past week, the demand for Ukrainian sunflower has led to an increase of 300–500 UAH per ton. Currently, purchasing prices range from 27,800 to 28,800 UAH/ton or 590–610 USD/ton (excluding VAT) with a standard oil content of 50% and delivery to the factory. Some processing enterprises have been forced to suspend the acceptance of raw materials due to full warehouses, while others continue active purchasing, raising their own price offers.
“In the past week, the demand prices for sunflower in Ukraine have risen by another 300-500 UAH/ton to 27,800–28,800 UAH/ton or 590–610 USD/ton excluding VAT (for 50% oil content) with delivery to the factory, but some processors have lowered prices and stopped accepting due to a lack of free storage, while others continue to buy and raise prices,” the report states.
At the same time, spot prices for Ukrainian sunflower oil are also rising, currently standing at 1,230–1,245 USD/ton with delivery to ports in October–November. The increase in oil prices (+20–30 USD/ton) is attributed to supply delays and rising product costs from Russia.
Trends in the Meal Market and Harvest Volumes
In the sunflower meal market, a reverse trend is observed – over the week, prices have decreased by 5 USD/ton, dropping to 205–210 USD/ton. This is due to an increase in the supply of rapeseed and soybean meal in the European Union, which limits the demand for sunflower meal from European countries.
As of October 16, Ukraine has already harvested 7.19 million tons of sunflower from an area of 3.91 million hectares (76% of the total sown area). The average yield currently stands at 1.84 tons/hectare, which is lower compared to last year when the figure reached 2.07 tons/hectare on the same date.
The total sunflower harvest in 2025 is projected to be 10–10.5 million tons, which is less than last year (11 million tons). This forces processors to actively purchase raw materials to load production capacities.
However, a possible increase in sunflower harvests in Kazakhstan and Russia could intensify competition in the international market, especially regarding supplies to China and India. As a result, Ukrainian exporters will increasingly focus on the markets of the European Union.
