Poland Expands Production of 155-mm Artillery Shells and Supplies TNT to the USA

In the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship of Poland, AMC Global Group will begin construction of a new facility for the production of large-caliber ammunition worth PLN 100 million (approximately $26.09 million). This factory will specialize in the final assembly of 155-mm artillery shells, which have a basic firing range of up to 20 km. However, with the installation of a gas generator, the range can be significantly increased.

Components for the production of shells are planned to be supplied from various countries, including Italy, Turkey, Croatia, Romania, and others. The full launch of the factory, which will be able to produce up to 120,000 shells per year, is expected to take place in 2027 or early 2028. The produced shells will be intended exclusively for export.

Poland’s Investment in Ammunition Production

Poland also plans to invest PLN 3 billion (approximately €700 million) in new factories for the production of 155-mm ammunition. This reflects the country’s commitment to strengthening its own defense industry and increasing ammunition production capabilities.

Contract for TNT Supply to the USA

Additionally, Warsaw has signed a new contract with Washington for the supply of 18,000 tons of TNT from 2027 to 2029 for a total of PLN 1.2 billion (approximately $310 million). The explosive will be used for the production of 155-mm ammunition. TNT will be produced by Nitro-Chem, one of the largest manufacturers of this product in the world, which is part of the Polish state defense group PGZ.
