New Cities and Border Changes
According to the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, the following localities will be granted city status: Stanisławów, Małkinia Górna, and Staroźreby in the Masovian Voivodeship, Janów Podlaski in the Lublin Voivodeship, Branice in the Opole Voivodeship, and Janów in the Silesian Voivodeship. Additionally, the borders of several communes will be altered, including Rytro, Piwniczna-Zdrój, Zębowice, Strysz, Niepołomice, and Klaj in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, as well as the communes of Zakrzew and Radom in the Masovian Voivodeship and Radzionków and Piekary Śląskie in the Silesian Voivodeship. Furthermore, the borders of some Polish cities will be modified, and the commune of Nowe Miasto Lubawskie will receive a new name — Bratyan.
“The granting of city status to a locality is decided after public consultations. Such a change in image often enhances investment attractiveness and allows for applications for urban development funds.”
