Pension Supplements for Ukrainians: Who Will Receive an Increase in August 2025

In August 2025, pension increases will be implemented in Ukraine for certain categories of citizens who have reached a specific age. This involves the introduction of age-related supplements aimed at partially compensating for the annual devaluation of pension payments.

Who Will Receive Pension Increases and by How Much

According to the updated rules, the amount of age-related supplements will be as follows:

  • 300 UAH – for individuals aged 70 to 74 years;
  • 456 UAH – for pensioners aged 75 to 79 years;
  • 570 UAH – for citizens who have reached 80 years of age.

It is important to note that the pension supplement is not granted if the main pension exceeds 10,340.3 UAH. The supplement is assigned from the day after the birthday, meaning the first payment is made proportionally based on the number of days in the month following this date.

“The calculation of the supplement does not start from the beginning of the calendar month, but from the day after the birthday. Therefore, the first payment will be made proportionally to the number of days. Important! A person who has already been assigned a pension supplement (for example, 456 UAH for reaching 75 years) will receive an additional 114 UAH upon reaching 80 years of age – meaning the total supplement will increase to 570 UAH,” explains the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

Features of Pension Payment Calculations

The amount of pension in Ukraine is determined by three main criteria: work experience, the amount of individual salary, and the average salary in the country. When calculating the pension, the ratio of one’s own salary to the average is multiplied by the number of years of service and by 1%. The resulting figure is then multiplied by the average salary over the previous three years.

According to the Pension Fund of Ukraine, the average pension in the country currently stands at 6,410.1 UAH. Meanwhile, the majority of Ukrainian pensioners receive significantly lower amounts: up to 4,000 UAH – 3,623,145 individuals (35.3% of the total number of pensioners), and up to 5,000 UAH – 5,724,553 individuals (55.8%). This indicates the relevance and necessity of implementing age-related supplements to support elderly citizens.
