Government Scholarships for Ukrainians
The main government financial support program is the Borsa di studio scholarship, which is intended for students from low-income families. The criterion for receiving this scholarship is that the income per family member must not exceed 19,000 euros per year. The scholarship amount can reach up to 900 euros per month, significantly reducing the financial burden during university studies.
In addition to government support, there are numerous university programs and grants from private organizations that can cover part of the costs for tuition or living expenses. Scholarships are available for students at all levels: undergraduates, master’s students, doctoral candidates, as well as for refugee children who require special support during their adaptation to a new educational environment.
Additional Expenses and Support for Refugees
Despite the availability of scholarships, students should also consider other expenses. For example:
- A place in a university dormitory costs about 300 euros per month;
- Food costs approximately 200 euros;
- Discounted public transport fares add another 50-60 euros per month.
However, thanks to scholarship programs, these expenses become quite manageable for most students.
Italian universities and authorities pay special attention to refugee children. They have simplified admission procedures, additional adaptation courses, and the possibility of receiving financial assistance to cover basic living and educational expenses. Thus, Italy creates favorable conditions for the education and socialization of Ukrainian children and youth.
