Norway to Allocate 9 Billion Dollars in Aid to Ukraine in 2026

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, in Kyiv, during which a new package of financial support for Ukraine from the Oslo government was announced.

Details of the Aid Package and Key Areas of Cooperation

According to Svyrydenko’s announcement, Norway will provide Ukraine with funding amounting to 9 billion dollars in 2026. This aid will come in the form of both military and civilian support, under the Nansen Program. She emphasized the importance of this decision and expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Norway for announcing the aid during his official visit to Kyiv.

“Norway is providing Ukraine with $9 billion in funding for this year. This is yet another package of military and civilian assistance to Ukraine under the Nansen Program. I thank the Prime Minister of Norway for this announcement made during his visit to Kyiv,” said the head of government.

Svyrydenko also noted that Norway is the largest donor of the PURL initiative, which significantly enhances Ukraine’s air defense. During the negotiations, the main focus was on issues of Ukraine’s energy security.

Energy Support and Investment Prospects

According to the Prime Minister, Norway plays a special role in ensuring Ukraine’s gas imports, as well as in contributions to the Energy Support Fund and the provision of grants. Additionally, the Norwegian side is transferring distributed generation equipment, which will be used at Naftogaz Group facilities. The parties also discussed potential investment projects that could receive support through Norfund tools.

So far, Jonas Gahr Støre has refrained from making public comments regarding the outcomes of the meeting in Kyiv.

It is worth noting that earlier, on February 12, Norway announced the acquisition of a large batch of French guided bombs as part of a bilateral agreement on military support for Ukraine.
