NBU Begins Sale of Commemorative Banknote ‘Unity Saves the World’ with a Denomination of 50 Hryvnias

The National Bank of Ukraine has started selling a new commemorative banknote with a denomination of 50 hryvnias, symbolically titled ‘Unity Saves the World’. The cost of the souvenir note is 245 hryvnias, and its unique feature is the vertical design.

Design and Symbolism of the Commemorative Banknote

The banknote is dedicated to the solidarity of democratic states around the world in the face of Russian aggression. The release is limited – one person can purchase no more than 40 banknotes, each offered in special souvenir packaging. The total print run is 299,952 copies, with the serial numbers ranging from 0000001 to 0300000, highlighting their collectible value.

The front side of the banknote features an artistic composition: a stylized outline of Ukraine resembling a heart, with symbolic vessels approaching it. The background image depicts a girl in a military helmet, gazing towards the West. At the bottom of the banknote, the planet Earth is illustrated with Europe highlighted, from which ‘vessel-routes’ symbolize paths of assistance and support to Ukraine.

Design Details and Unique Elements

The upper part of the front side contains a through element – a stylized chevron of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the inscription ‘Ukraine’, an image of the small State Emblem, and a composition of squares and a transparent strip featuring the logo of the National Bank.

On the reverse side of the commemorative banknote, there is a symbolic composition of clasped hands, representing trust, cooperation, mutual assistance, and partnership. The composition is set against a stylized trident, emphasizing the national idea of unity.
