Unique Features of the Commemorative Coin

The coin is made of 900 fine gold, with a net weight of 31.1 grams. The year of minting is 2009, and the total mintage is limited to three thousand pieces. Currently, only 516 copies are available. Sales are strictly limited: each buyer can purchase no more than four coins.

The obverse of the coin features a fragment of an ancient structure and a signal bell, complemented by a meander ornament, images of ancient coins from Chersonesus, and a lamp. At the top, there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine with the inscription “National Bank of Ukraine.” At the bottom, the denomination, metal designation, fineness, net weight, the logo of the NBU Mint, and the year of minting are displayed.

On the reverse of the coin, one can see the remains of the Chersonesus structure and the Cathedral of Saint Prince Vladimir, which is believed to have been built in the mid-19th century over the ruins of a medieval temple, where Prince Vladimir was likely baptized. The upper part of the reverse is adorned with the semicircular inscription “Chersonesus Taurica.”

“…the Cathedral of Saint Prince Vladimir, ‘built in the mid-19th century over the ruins of a medieval temple, where Prince Vladimir was likely baptized.'”

The coin has a rim with sectoral milling, emphasizing its exclusivity and value for numismatists and collectors.
