NATO Outpaces Russia in Ammunition Production: Global Defense Spending and Ukraine’s Position

The North Atlantic Alliance has significantly increased its ammunition production pace, surpassing Russia, which previously led NATO countries in this regard. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during the Alliance forum, emphasizing the strategic shifts in the defense industry.

Mark Rutte emphasized that the threat from the Russian Federation will not disappear even after the war against Ukraine ends. He highlighted that Russia will remain a destabilizing factor for Europe and the entire world. According to the Secretary General, Russia is actively expanding military cooperation with China, North Korea, Iran, and other countries, elevating defense collaboration to an unprecedented level.

“We need to advance progress in all areas, from high-quality air defense to affordable interceptor drones,” he concluded.

Global Military Budgets: The USA, Ukraine, and Other Leaders

According to last year’s results, the largest defense budgets were held by the United States of America – $949.2 billion, China – $449.9 billion, and Russia – $352.1 billion. India and North Korea also made it to the top 5 with expenditures of $281.7 billion and $263.1 billion, respectively. Saudi Arabia ranked sixth with $135.3 billion, followed closely by Germany – $106.8 billion.

Ukraine, which has been resisting Russia’s full-scale aggression for the fourth year, ranked eighth in the global military spending ranking – $103 billion. This is more than the United Kingdom ($91.1 billion) and Japan ($80.3 billion), which also feature in the top ten largest defense budgets in the world.
