As noted by European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius, over the three years of full-scale war, the European Union and its member states have allocated €140 billion in aid to Ukraine, of which €50 billion was directed towards military support. This is an investment in the security of all of Europe.

At this point, it is important to shift from a model of aid to the integration of the defense sectors of Ukraine and the EU. “Ukraine can take advantage of the EU’s manufacturing capabilities, financial resources, and advanced technologies – from armored vehicles to fighter jets and air defense systems. But Ukraine can also offer a lot to the EU. Its industry is fast, modern, and capable of creating unique products – often at half the cost of those in Europe,” emphasized Kubilius.
He also added that Ukraine has become a global leader in the production of drones with artificial intelligence, using them in real battles, which is valuable experience for Europe. To stop Putin, the EU and Ukraine must work together to produce more, innovate more frequently, and achieve peace through strength by leveraging production capabilities and intelligence, the commissioner noted.
