Consequences of the attacks on Russian refineries

According to estimates, all instances of supply disruptions since August have been taken into account, even if the situation has managed to stabilize. The attacks have impacted every third oil refinery in the country. In August, at least 14 attacks were recorded, followed by another eight in September, and four new incidents in the first ten days of October. As a result, the operations of at least ten enterprises, including those focused on exports, were partially or completely suspended.

Statistics on attacks and the scale of the problems

According to calculations, since January, Ukrainian forces have carried out attacks on 21 of the 38 largest oil refineries in Russia. This is a 48% increase compared to the same period last year. Such activity has led to significant disruptions in fuel supply across various regions of the country, highlighting the growing vulnerability of the fuel infrastructure.

“At least 57 regions of Russia, or more than half, have faced fuel supply disruptions following Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries”.

Experts note that if this trend of attacks continues, the situation regarding fuel supply in Russian regions may remain tense going forward.
