Milk Prices in Ukrainian Supermarkets: Analysis and Trends

As of March 25, the price of milk in Ukraine is showing a decrease, currently 40 kopecks lower than a month ago. According to the Milk Producers Association, the average procurement price of milk is 16.20 hryvnias per kilogram excluding VAT. This price drop is occurring against a backdrop of export restrictions, as producers adapt to new market conditions.

“Outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease in European countries and the cancellation of the preferential duty-free regime by the EU for Ukrainian agricultural exporters create conditions for further price reductions on raw milk in Ukraine,” noted analyst Georgiy Kukhaleyshvili.

According to the information, extra grade milk is offered at a price of 16.35 hryvnias per kilogram, which is 45 kopecks less compared to last month. Higher grade milk is sold for 16.15 hryvnias per kilogram, which is also 50 kopecks lower than in the previous period. First grade milk averages 15.65 hryvnias per kilogram, having decreased by 35 kopecks compared to the second half of last month.
