Metaplanet acquired the bitcoins through the sale of previously issued put options, which allowed them to raise the necessary funds. The average purchase price of the bitcoins was approximately $97,500 per unit.

Currently, Metaplanet holds 4,046 BTC on its balance sheet, with a total value estimated at nearly $340 million.

In the first quarter of 2025, the company earned 50.26 BTC from the sale of options, further strengthening its crypto portfolio. Following the announcement of the bitcoin purchase, Metaplanet’s shares rose by approximately 2%, according to Yahoo Finance. The bitcoin market is currently trading near the $84,000 mark.

“On March 24, Metaplanet spent $12.6 million to purchase 150 BTC,” the reports state.
