Plans and Priorities of Ukrainians Regarding Housing Purchases

In a survey conducted by the verified real estate marketplace DIM.RIA, over 1500 Ukrainians participated. The purpose of the study was to identify the main trends and financial capabilities of citizens regarding the purchase and rental of housing. According to the results, in 2025, the average budget for purchasing real estate has decreased, while renters, on the contrary, are willing to spend more on rent.

“The most common goal for purchasing housing among the surveyed Ukrainians, users of the DIM.RIA marketplace: to change rented housing to owned (42%), to change place of residence (33%).”

Demand for Different Types of Housing and Buyers’ Budgets

The highest interest in the market is shown for apartments in the secondary market. The second most popular option is private houses sold directly by owners. New constructions—both apartments and houses—rank third and fourth in terms of demand. Smart apartments remain the least interesting option for potential buyers.

Regarding financial capabilities, most Ukrainians plan to spend on purchasing housing in 2025 an amount equal to or slightly lower than last year’s budget. The largest share of those willing to buy housing is focused on a price range of $30,000 to $50,000. At the same time, there is a decrease in the number of people considering purchasing housing for over $50,000.
