Lukashenko announced preparations for war and targeted mobilization in Belarus

Alexander Lukashenko, who holds power in Belarus, stated that the armed forces of the country are continuing preparations for possible combat actions, including the likelihood of conducting a “ground operation”. He voiced these intentions during a report by Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin.

In particular, the Belarusian leader announced the start of “targeted mobilization” and emphasized that the army must remain ready for war, despite the official rhetoric about a desire for peace. He stressed that units would be mobilized selectively to ensure their readiness for military actions if necessary.

“Further, as I promised, we will selectively mobilize units to prepare them for war. God willing, we can avoid it.”

Reaction from the Center for Countering Disinformation

Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, noted that currently Belarus does not have sufficient forces to conduct any ground operation. He emphasized that the situation in the region is under control, and Ukrainian forces are ready for any developments. Kovalenko remarked that statements regarding preparations for war are part of an information campaign and an imitation of activity by the Belarusian authorities.

According to him, any aggressive actions from Belarus could result in serious negative consequences for the country itself.

Targeted mobilization and conscription of reserve officers

Recall that in April, Lukashenko signed a decree on the conscription of reserve officers for military service, which was another step in strengthening Belarus’s defense component. Such actions indicate an increase in mobilization measures in the country amid escalating rhetoric from official Minsk.
